DCHD: NO DISCHARGE PROBLEMS

The DCHD Delta Conical Helical Dryer is a vertical conical machine with an internal agitator with a helical design. The main feature of the DCHD is the very high effectiveness of its drying and discharging process, due to its body shape.

 

THE SHAPE IS ITS STRENGHT

The DCHD Delta Conical Helical Dryer allows to:

  • Efficiently but gently dry products, while obtaining a very low final moisture content.
  • Move the cake during the drying phase at a variable speeds, thus improving drying time.
  • Minimize lump generation.
  • Automatically discharge the product through the bottom valve, minimizing the product that remains inside the body.

The agitator is designed to optimize the heat exchange and the efficiency of the mixing function. Moreover, the shape of the blades enables the automatic discharge of the final product. Each part of the vacuum dryer has been conceived to minimize dead areas.

DCHD AT GLANCE

The DCHD Delta Conical Helical Dryer is composed of the following elements:

  • the conical body with a convex top head, which contributes to the machine’s main features, allows an easy product discharge and can be certified as pressure vessel. Depending on batch size and on the available installation location, Delta offers a totally customized design.
  • The agitator, which is supported by the top head, can rotate in both directions according to process needs.
    • During drying, the agitator mixes the product, providing heat and avoiding lumps generation.
    • During discharge, the agitator pushes the crystals to the discharge nozzle.
  • The heating system, installed on all machine surfaces including the agitator, provides high heat transfer coefficients.
  • The discharge valve is located on the bottom vertex and, depending on the product, can use different technologies:
    1. Butterfly valves for applications requiring robustness and effectiveness
    2. segmented ball for high vacuum cleanability levels

APPLICATION FIELDS

The DCHD Delta Conical Helical Vacuum Dryer is suitable for multi-product or mono-product applications accomplished in batch process. Due to its robust and reliable design, it can be used in many industries, such as:

  • API production
  • Fine chemicals
  • Dietary supplements/fragrances

As per the Delta Costruzioni Meccaniche philosophy, each machine can be completely customized to the customer’s needs. The following list of DCHD Delta Conical Helical Dryer options is only a fraction of the solutions that Delta has developed over the years:

  1. CIP system – for washing between batches, which uses rotating spray balls and sprayers on critical areas of the discharge valve
  2. SIP system – blows steam inside the machine body and checks cold area temperatures for sterilizing grade control
  3. Sanitary insulation – which is mandatory for applications where cleanliness is important, like in white chambers (clean rooms)
  4. Sampling device – for retrieving a product sample and checking the production status
  5. Additional delumper – for products that tends lumps formation
  6. Dust filter on the top head – for product containment while avoiding vacuum pump contamination
  7. Bayonet closure system between body and top head – for easy maintenance management
  8. External vacuum system coupled with an integrated heating system – for global production line management
